Law Enforcement Related Injury in Southwest NR14305jk

Los Angeles:  On July 31, 2014, around 12:15 p.m., a South Traffic Motor officer was flagged down by a community member in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Brighton Avenue.  The officer was informed that his shotgun fell from the motorcycle rack and a suspect (later identified as Takee Williams) had picked it up and fled.

During a K-9 search in the 4000 block of Brighton Avenue, a South Traffic officer who accompanied the Metropolitan Division K-9 handler in the search, was bitten on the leg.    

The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted and scheduled to undergo surgery for the injuries sustained during the K-9 contact.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  No other officers were injured during the search.
