WHAT:
“National Night Out” is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.

WHY:
On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the Los Angeles Police Department, the National Association of Town Watch and communities around the nation will participate in “National Night Out.” The nationwide event was designed to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie. Traditionally, “light on” and front porch vigils have been ways to participate in the annual event, however, activities have expanded to include block parties, cookouts, parades, police station open houses, festivals, neighborhood walks, safety fairs, contests, rallies and meetings.
