Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision that severely injured a bicyclist.

On August 15, 2017, around 6:50 p.m., Olympic Area officers responded to West Venice Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue for a traffic collision. The investigation revealed that a collision occurred when the bicyclist, riding his bicycle westbound on West Venice Boulevard, was struck by a vehicle also traveling westbound on West Venice Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without identifying themselves and did not render aid to the victim, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the bicyclist to a local area hospital with severe head injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a tan colored minivan. The investigation is ongoing.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
