was appointed to the Board of Police
Commissioners by Mayor Eric Garcetti and confirmed by the City
Council on August 3, 2016.

Commissioner McClain-Hill is an attorney, co-founder, and Managing
Director of the Los Angeles-based Strategic Counsel PLC,
specializing in managing complex legal matters, strategizing public
policy, advocacy, and communications. She has represented numerous
clients, navigating contentious legal, governmental, and political
issues that arise when controversial matters emerge. Commissioner
McClain-Hill has shared her legal and public policy expertise in
service to a variety of public-sector and non-profit boards and
commissions throughout California. She has served as an appointee
on the California Coastal Commission, the California Fair Political
Practices Commission, and CalEPA Environmental Justice Advisory
Working Group. In addition, she served on the Community
Redevelopment Agency for the City of Los Angeles, and the Los
Angeles Small and Local Business Advisory Commission.

Commissioner McClain-Hill has been featured in numerous
publications and is frequently invited to appear on many television
and radio talk shows. Due to her exemplary leadership and
engagement with many business and civic organizations, she has been
the recipient of the prestigious "Women in Business Advocate Award"
by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the "2005 Chapter Public
Policy Advocate of the Year" by the National Association of Women
Business Owners, the "Thurgood Marshall Award" by Minorities in
Business magazine, as well as the "Ruth Standish Baldwin Award"
from the Greater Sacramento Urban League.

Commissioner McClain-Hill has worked closely with many elected
officials and state policy makers. Former California Governor Gray
Davis appointed her as one of his five co-chairs serving on his
Gubernatorial Transition Team. She also served as a member of the
transition team for Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark
Ridley-Thomas.

Commissioner McClain-Hill graduated from UCLA School of Law earning
her Juris Doctorate, and Bachelor's degree in political science
from UCLA. She is married and has two children.
