Andrea Sheridan Ordin was appointed to the Board of Police Commissioners by Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa in July of 2005. She is Senior Counsel in the Los Angeles office of Morgan Lewis, a full service law firm with offices throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. She practices in the Litigation section, and also serves as head of the Los Angeles pro bono practice. Ms. Ordin's current practice focuses on complex business and environmental litigation, appellate litigation and internal corporate investigations.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis as a partner, Ms. Ordin had a 25 year career as a lawyer in Federal, State and Los Angeles County governments. Notably she served as the first woman Assistant District Attorney for Los Angeles County, the number three position. She was appointed United States Attorney for the Central District of California from 1977 to 1981, the third woman to so serve. From 1983 through 1990 she was Chief Assistant Attorney General for the State of California. As United States Attorney for the Central District of California, she supervised all criminal and civil litigation for the United States in Los Angeles County and six surrounding counties, personally arguing appeals before the 9th Circuit. She developed Task Forces and Coordinating Committees among the State, Federal and local law enforcement agencies in the Central District and served as the Chair of the United States Attorney General's Advisory Committee, meeting regularly in Washington, DC to assist in coordination of the men and women serving in the Department of Justice.

As Chief Assistant Attorney General of the State of California, Ms. Ordin was in charge of the Public Rights Division which was responsible for all environmental, consumer, anti-trust, charitable trust and civil rights litigation for the State of California. In addition, she personally litigated in the State and Federal courts on behalf of the State of California, including arguments in the California and United States Supreme Court.
