Why:
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, joined by the LAPD and community faith based organizations will be having their second citywide Gun Buyback program aimed at reducing the level of gun violence in Los Angeles.

This is an initiative of the Mayor’s Gang Reduction and Youth Development Office.  The 2010 Gun Buyback program will reward the voluntary surrender of firearms with pre paid visa cards or a gift card to Ralphs valued at $100 for hand guns and $200 for assault weapons, while engaging the community toward a common goal reducing gun violence.

The LAPD Gun Unit will be on site to determine the type of classification on the firearm surrendered.

The Gang Reduction Youth Development office is currently working with the LAPD, Ralphs, and media partner KCAL 9/KCBS 2.

Note:
People are asked to transport their firearms unloaded and in the trunk of your vehicle.
