Detectives Investigating Death of 2-year-old at Staples Center NR10548js

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division detectives are looking into an incident that resulted in the death of a 2-year-old boy at Staples Center.

On Sunday, November 21, 2010, the child was with his family in a “luxury suite” at Staples Center, attending the Lakers game. After the game, the family and others in the group were taking pictures while still in the luxury suite section of the arena.

At about 9:15 p.m., the boy fell over the edge of his section to the seating area below.  He was transported to a local area hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead by the hospital staff due to head injuries.

Juvenile Division detectives are currently investigating the circumstances of the child’s death.  In death investigation cases when a victim is under the age of 11, Juvenile Division has investigative responsibility.
