Chief Charlie Beck to join Metrop Division Mounted Officers on Horse-Mounted Trail Ride in Griffith Park

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck and LAPD’s Metropolitan Division announce the upcoming LAPD Mounted Platoon Trail Ride.  The trail ride begins with registration from 6am to 8am, followed by the trail ride, which starts at 9:00 a.m.  Riders will travel from the LAPD Mounted Platoon’s headquarters at 3934 Rigali Street and ride to the Hollywood sign in Griffith Park.

Proceeds raised by the trail ride and silent auction will be used to benefit the Los Angeles Mounted Police Foundation.  The Foundation raises money to purchase horses, equipment and supports Metropolitan Division’s Mini Mounted Program, which helps underprivileged children in Los Angeles.

Members of the media are invited to meet the men and women of Metropolitan Division’s Mounted Platoon, the horses of the Mounted Platoon, and the 100 riders who will be participating.  Media members may visit the Metropolitan Division Equestrian Facility between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
