To honor law enforcement personnel with the ADL Helene and Joseph Sherwood Prize for Combating Hate.

Awards will be presented to recipients who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to combating extremism, bigotry and hatred by performing acts outside the normal scope of duties.  Recipients have also made an impact on victims of hate crimes or bias-motivated incidents and provided opportunities for education to reduce hate crimes and bias motivated activity. These special individuals have used innovative approaches to enforce or prosecute hate crime laws and made a significant difference in their community and served as role models for his or her agency.

The ADL was founded in 1913.  It is one of the nation’s premier human relations and civil rights agencies and is dedicated to combating anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defending democratic ideals and protecting civil rights for all.  Visit the website at /
