WHY:
The 2013 Gun buyback will reward the voluntary surrender of firearms while engaging the community towards a common goal of reducing gun violence, an initiative of the Mayor’s Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) office.   The Gun Buyback effort is a partnership with the LAPD and numerous community and faith-based organizations.

The Gun Buyback efforts will secure four neutral locations throughout the City where individuals can surrender their firearms-no questions asked.

In exchange for the firearm, the individual will receive a Ralphs gift card for up to $200. Since the inception of the Gun Buyback Program in 2009, nearly 10,000 firearms have been taken off the streets.
