Why:
The press conference will announce a unified partnership with our City-wide interfaith religious community to denounce terrorism and violence.  The Los Angeles Police Department in partnership with our interfaith community stand together and remain vigilant to root out and condemn the actions of those that cause harm to our communities.  We meet to reaffirm our commitment to not give into hate and violence and united we call for action and unity.  Let us ensure there is no backlash against any particular community as a result of the terrorist incident.

The LAPD remains committed to work with all facets of the community to help protect the public.  In the immediate aftermath of the terrible bombing in Boston, “the LAPD took quick and decisive action to ensure our community was safe” said Chief Beck.  “The Department reached out to our partners and dedicated extra security measures to our interfaith community and all large venues.  We will continue to provide this support during upcoming events.”

The LAPD reminds the public that it is everybody’s responsibility to report suspicious behaviors and activities known to be used by terrorists.  “If you see something, say something” is a reminder to all that it starts with the public to protect itself.
