Central Traffic Officers to Conduct a Free Child Safety Seat Checkup NA14034sm

Central Traffic Officers

WHY:

To reduce fatalities caused by improper installation of child safety seats.  Officers conducting the inspections have been highly trained on how to inspect child passenger seats.  More than 90 percent of child passenger seats that are inspected, are improperly installed, many times, the seat used is not the correct safety seat for the child.

Officers ask that if possible the child be present at the time of inspection in order to adjust seat accordingly. It is recommended that those planning on attending call to make an appointment.  Some inspections can take up to 30 minutes to complete.  Please bring manuals for vehicle and child safety seat if available.
 
Central Traffic Division reminds the public that every Thursday they offer child safety seat inspections at the Central Community Police Station located at 251 East 6th Street in the city of Los Angeles.

Inspections are by appointment only. All appointments can be made by calling (213) 236-9254.
