Officer-Involved Shooting in Hollenbeck Area NR14313lp

The officers involved in the below incident have been identified as Police Officer III Aaron Skiver, Serial No.32219 and Police Officer II Ricardo Huerta, Serial No. 34863. Both officers are assigned to Newton Division patrol.

Los Angeles:  On August 17, 2014 around 1:30 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Patrol officers responded to a radio call for a violent male in the 3200 block of West 6th Street.   
 
Upon the officers’ arrival, they were confronted by a male armed with a shotgun and an officer involved shooting occurred.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the suspect to a local area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
 
There were no injuries to the involved officers.

Force Investigation Division detectives are investigating the officer involved shooting.

The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, Office of the Inspector General and the Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Department’s Use-Of-Force policy which states that an officer’s use-of-force actions must be objectively reasonable.  Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a comprehensive review of the facts of the officer-involved shooting.
