WHO: LAPD, Detective III Michael Ventura, Newton Area Auto Detectives LAPD, Senior Lead Officer Steve Carrillo, Newton Area

WHY: Due to an increase in property crimes, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Area Auto Detectives will provide community members with crime prevention tips for burglary from motor vehicles. To help prevent thieves from stealing catalytic converters and targeting SUV’s with 3rd row seats, detectives will engrave and provide locks for the vehicles registered owners free of charge. In addition, officers will demonstrate DNA/ Latent Print gathering techniques and explain how vital this evidence is to detectives.

VISION: Media may stage outside the gates to watch the officers install the seat locks, engrave the catalytic converters and demonstrate the DNA/Latent Prints gathering techniques.
