Hollenbeck Detectives Announce the Arrest of the “Hot Prowl” Rapist

WHO: Councilmember Jose Huizar – 14th Council District LAPD Assistant Chief Jorge Villegas LAPD Captain Martin Baeza, Commanding Officer, Hollenbeck Division Hollenbeck Detectives and Officers

WHY: On May 15, 2015, around 12:30 a.m., a 30-year old female was sexually assaulted in her own home on the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. While the victim was sleeping in her bedroom, an unknown male Hispanic forced her living room window open and climbed into her residence. The suspect removed most of his clothing with the exception of his underwear and then entered the victim’s bedroom. The victim woke up when she heard a noise in her room and she observed the suspect standing at the foot of her bed. The suspect then sexually assaulted her. The suspect dressed himself before he left the victim’s residence.

On May 18, 2015, Hollenbeck Commanding Officers assigned divisional patrol officers to a program called the Hollenbeck Community Partners Program. While in response to improving the quality of life within the division, and strengthening the communicative bond of the partnership between the community and police, officers on a foot beat were informed of the location of a suspect wanted for sexual assault.

Following up on the information, and after extensive investigation, Hollenbeck officers and detectives arrested 21 year-old Manuel Larios Munoz for 261 (a)(2), Rape, that occurred on May 15, 2015.
