New Foot Beat in China Town NR15203rh

June 15, 2015

China Town: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Division currently has several foot beats in the downtown area, which are the following: skid row area, the bars and clubs that make up the hospitality corridors of the historic court and the LA LIVE complex. These foot beats have seven day coverage.

Central Area is now adding a permanent foot beat in the vibrant living community of China Town. Central Area will deploy this permanent foot beat assigned four days a week to start with the plan to go to seven day coverage.

Foot beats are an optimal form of relationship based policing combining the positive public contacts and educational opportunities with the crime suppressing vision of cops walking the beat.

The vision of the Los Angeles Police Department is a community free of crime and disorder. Central Area officers are dedicated to crime reduction, community outreach and public safety in the downtown area.

Central Area deploys every day in cars, bikes, electric vehicles and the foot beats to get us closer to the Los Angeles Police Department vision. Central Division is committed to continue to expand foot beats as deployment allows because of their beloved status in the community.
