WHAT: The culmination of the three 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games Torches uniting in Los Angeles for the opening ceremonies on July 25, 2015.

WHO: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell Special Olympics Athletes, volunteers and Torch Runners

WHY: 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games are coming to Los Angeles! Through the United States, in a hand-to-hand exchange, over 20,000 participants will run, walk or bike a segment of the Special Olympics relay. This fundraising event passes through all 50 states. The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) Final Leg for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games is the Special Olympics largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. To continue the journey of the Flame of Hope, the Unified Relay Across America will end on July 10,, 2015, in Los Angeles. On July 13, 2015, the torch will be passed on to the LETR Final Leg Team, which will carry the torch throughout California for 13 days culminating with the lighting of the ceremonial cauldron during the Opening Ceremony in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 25.
