WHY: To help celebrate the holiday season, the Los Angeles Police Department has partnered with various donors (VLADO, Warehouse Shoes Sales (WSS), Shoes that Fit, Allied Barton, Tam’s Burgers #35, Shoe Crew, A Chance for Children, Iona & Jeff Ferrero, Banner Holding Co and Menasha Green) to help give back to our community. “Operation Shoes from Santa” will feature over 1,000 pairs of shoes that will be distributed to pre-designated children from 16 schools within the Newton Area community. Officers from Newton Area will also transform the police station into a Winter Wonderland with real snow for children to play in. Additionally, we will have festive décor in “Newton Street Posada” style with live folklorico dancers and a mariachi band. We will have an on-site “Santa’s Workshop” where children will have the opportunity to build and paint crafts. Santa will be coming to town escorted in a fire truck by members of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. During the Holiday Shoe/Toy Giveaway Event the media will have the opportunity to meet with families receiving gifts and hear personal stories.
