$50,000 Reward Offered in Fatal Hit and Run in South Los Angeles Captured on Video NA18164jl

WHERE: Central Avenue & 84th Place Los Angeles, CA 90003

WHY: On August 2, 2018, at around 12:38 a.m., a female pedestrian, 62 years of age, Joan Davis was walking eastbound across Central Ave, north of 81st Street when she was struck by a White Econoline Van traveling southbound on Central Avenue. After striking the victim, the driver of the Van continued southbound on Central failing to remain at scene and identifying themselves or rendering assistance.

The victim laid motionless on Central while additional vehicles passed her. Shortly after the first traffic collision a small possible Gray hatchback vehicle struck the victim again and dragged her body for one block. This driver then pulled to the southwest curb of 82nd Street and Central Avenue for approximately 3 minutes, while stopped on the corner the driver exited the hatchback and is seen walking around the vehicle. The driver re-enters the hatchback and continues southbound on Central Avenue with the victim trapped underneath the vehicle. The victim’s body finally becomes dislodged on Central Avenue at 84th Place. The driver of the hatchback continued southbound on Central Avenue towards Manchester.

The victim unfortunately succumbed to her injuries as a result of the accident.

LAPD South Traffic Division Area will be asking the community for their assistance in identifying the outstanding suspects. A $50,000 reward will be offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for this crime.
