End Point: Rally at Veterans Memorial on Huntington Drive and Van Horne Street

WHO: Councilman Jose Huizar, Los Angeles City Council District 14 Deputy Chief Regina Scott, Commanding Officer, Operations-Central Bureau Commander John McMahon, Assistant Commanding Officer, Operations-Central Bureau Commander Ruby Flores, Assistant Commanding Officer, Operations-Central Bureau Captain Al Labrada, Commanding Officer, Hollenbeck Area Captain Kathleen Burns, Patrol Commanding Officer, Hollenbeck Area Lieutenant Ryan Whiteman, Acting Gang Impact Team Officer in Charge, Hollenbeck Area

Victory Outreach El Sereno Urban 360 Hillside LA El Sereno Community

WHY: The Los Angeles Police Department, Hollenbeck Area, will be partnering with the office of Councilman Jose Huizar, Victory Outreach and various community groups to walk the Community to promote peace. The walk will begin at 6:30 PM at Huntington Drive and Eastern Avenue to the Veterans Memorial on Huntington Drive and Van Horne Street. It will take place today September 7, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the El Sereno Community of Hollenbeck Area.

The Hollenbeck Area Gang Impact Team is fostering partnership with youth groups, clergy groups and Community organizations to promote unity, peace and mentor youth to avoid gangs. The El Sereno Community has recently shared concerns about the increase in gang violence in the Community. The LAPD Hollenbeck Gang Unit has partnered with clergy and Community leaders to help reduce violence and mentor youth to reduce the incidents of gang involvement. This will be an opportunity for the El Sereno Community to share concerns, call for unity and let their voice be heard. Hollenbeck Area continues to partner with the community to empower, promote unit and mentor by improving the lives of at risk youth.
