WHY: The focus of this initiative is to make pedestrians more visible to motorists especially during the hours of darkness when a pedestrian is most likely to be struck. Farmers Insurance has collaborated with the LAPD to purchase reflective vest, and lights that can be attached to clothing.

The following are tips to keep in mind: •Cross the street at designated crosswalks only when safe to do so. •Be aware that drivers may fail to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians. •Increase your visibility at night by carrying a flashlight and wearing reflective clothing. •Always pay attention to your surroundings and avoid distractions (i.e., cell phones, music, etc. •It is always safest to walk on the sidewalk. Do not walk on the street.
