Why: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division is announcing the arrest of a suspect in a fraudulent loan modification scheme. Several of the victims will attend and share their experiences.

During recent months, The Los Angeles Police Department has become aware of several victims of grand theft involving the same suspects. Detectives learned the suspects targeted Spanish-speaking homeowners, who were having financial difficulties and in the process of foreclosure. The suspects charged large advance fees in violation of the law and additional ongoing fees. Although the suspects promised to save the victims homes from foreclosure, no services were rendered by the suspects.
