Seeking Identity of Passenger in Felony DUI Investigation NR19068ti

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles
Police Department’s Central Traffic Division detectives is reaching
out to the passenger to come forward and to speak with detectives
regarding a DUI collision investigation.

On February 22, 2019, at around 12:55 p.m., Joshua Garcia was
driving-under-the-influence of an alcoholic beverage and had a male
Hispanic passenger with him near the area of 1st Street and Chicago
Street. Garcia became involved in a traffic collision which
resulted in serious injuries to a bicyclist and two pedestrians.
Garcia stopped his vehicle, however, he decided to flee the scene
with his passenger. A witness chased down Garcia and apprehended
Garcia for responding officers. The passenger fled the scene.

Garcia’s BAC was .18% and was booked for 23153(a) of the California
Vehicle Code, Felony DUI with Injury, Booking No. 5554701. Garcia
is currently out on $130,000.00 bail.

An exterior video surveillance system captured the collision and
it also captured Garcia and the passenger fleeing the scene.
Detectives are releasing the portion of the video that captured
Garcia and his passenger fleeing the scene in hopes the passenger
self-identifies himself or he is identified with the public’s
help.
