Central Division Murder Suspect Captured on Video NR20001ma

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles
Police Department’s Operations-Central Bureau homicide detectives
are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a murder suspect
captured on video.

On January 1, 2020, around 8:40 a.m., officers responded to the 100
block of East 7th Street for an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon”
radio call. When the officers arrived, they found a victim
suffering from multiple stab wounds. The investigation revealed
that the victim and the suspect were inside a restaurant and had an
argument with each other. The suspect stabbed the victim and then
fled on foot. The suspect was last seen walking on 7th Street
towards Los Angeles Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and
transported the victim to a local area hospital where the victim
succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect is described as a male, African American, 40-50 years
old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, dark hair and heavy
build. He was last seen wearing a grey baseball cap, black jacket,
red plaid shirt, and blue jeans.

The victim has been identified as Homer Garcia, who was 56 years
old, and lived in the area.
