88 Year-Old Woman Killed in Traffic Collision


Los Angeles- On Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at about 1:55 p.m., a fatal Bus vs. Pedestrian traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Cesar E. Chavez Avenue.

88 year-old Quing-Zhu Ying of Los Angeles was crossing northbound in a marked crosswalk when she was struck and killed by a MTA bus.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Ms. Ying dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus was negotiating a left turn from northbound Grand Avenue to westbound Cesar E. Chavez when he struck the pedestrian.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved and the driver was not arrested or cited. There were apparently no witnesses to the collision and the cause is still under investigation.
