Burglars Break into Home and Steal a Safe NR12142mjf

Los Angeles:  Burglary Special Section Safe Detail Detectives request the public’s help to identify the suspects wanted for breaking into a home and stealing the owner’s safe.

On Friday, March 16, 2012, at 8:20 p.m., a neighbor heard noise coming from a home in the 200 block of S. Highland in Los Angeles. Shortly after, the home security alarm was activated and officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division responded to the residence.  The officers discovered the home was burglarized and property was taken from the residence.

Detectives and officers from the Burglary Special Section Safe Detail responded to the location to take over the investigation.  According to investigators, the unknown suspects jumped over a security gate, used an unknown hard object to smash the side glass door and entered the residence.  Once inside the home the suspects searched the location looking for items of value.  The suspects located the victim's safe in the walk-in closet and used the rug outside of the bedroom to move the safe down the stairs and out the front door.

The victim’s safe was believed to contain personal documents, jewelry and cash valued at approximately $10,000,000.00.

Detectives investigating this burglary are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the suspects responsible for stealing the safe.  For more information, please call Detective Ben Black, Burglary Special Section Safe Detail at (213) 486-6983.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
