Victim is Murdered While Visiting a Friend in the Wilshire Area

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, December 31, 1998

On December 29,1998 at approximately 11:55 p.m., Dale Holmes, a 45 year old male black and resident of the immediate area, was visiting a friend in the 1400 Block of South Hayworth. The victim was asked to make a market run. Witnesses heard voices outside and unknown words were exchanged. The witnesses went outside and discovered the victim lying in the driveway of the carport motionless. The victim appeared to have received blunt forced trauma to the head area and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and have not determined a motive for the crime. There are no suspect(s) at this time.

The investigation is being handled by Wilshire Area Homicide Detectives at (213) 847-3990.
