Asian Crimes Homicide Detectives Investigate Murder in Chinatown

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, December 30, 1999

On Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a male Chinese victim was located in a vehicle parked to the rear of 804 Yale Street. The victim was suffering from numerous gunshot wounds and was transported by LAFD Rescue Ambulance to County USC Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses in the area describe the suspect as a male Asian or Hispanic dressed in dark clothing with a black knit cap. Both the suspect and the weapon are still outstanding.

The victim has been identified as Ken Fong, a 20 year old resident of Alhambra, who is a known gangmember. It is unknown if this incident is gang related.
