Suspect Stabs Roomate to Death

Wednesday, December 22, 1999

On Thursday, December 16, 1999, at approximately 12:45 am, Foothill Area patrol officers responded to an "Ambulance Stabbing" radio call, at the 10600 block of Langmuir Avenue in Sunland.

The investigation revealed the victim, Vincent Villard, a 43-year-old resident of Sunland was stabbed to death by his roommate as the result of an argument. The suspect, Lucas Gelbke, a 26-year-old resident of Sunland, was arrested three blocks from the crime scene by Foothill Officers. The weapon is not in custody. The motive for the murder is unknown at this time.

A male juvenile was also stabbed during the attack. He was treated at a local hospital for multiple stab wounds and released to his parents.

Foothill Area Detectives M. Taylor, J. Martinez and J. Perez under the direction of Captain Diljeet Singh, Foothill Operation Support Division Commanding Officer, are conducting the investigation.
