LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, December 6, 1999
On Saturday, December 4, 1999, at approximately 8:10 pm., Northeast Area Uniformed Patrol Officers responded to a radio call, "Assault with a Deadly Weapon, ambulance en-route, 300 block of North Avenue 51". Upon the officers arrival, they discovered the victim laying in the grass parkway. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and rendered aid to the victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim, a female black, fourteen years of age, was transported to a local hospital where she is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Officers investigation revealed that the victim and the subject had become involved in a verbal dispute which resulted in the subject arming herself with a knife. The subject then stabbed the victim in the torso. The victim’s sister who came to her aid also suffered a minor laceration to her finger. A follow-up to the subject’s residence by responding officers resulted in the arrest of the subject without incident.

The motive for the assault is unknown, although it appears that the dispute between the subject and victim had been ongoing for a period of time and does not appear to be gang related.

The subject, a thirteen-year-old female Hispanic, was booked at Eastlake Juvenile Hall for Attempted Murder.

The names of both victims and the subject are being withheld due to their age.

Northeast Area Detectives are conducting the investigation. If you have any questions regarding this incident please contact Media Relations Section at 213-485-3586.
