LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Wednesday, December 29, 1999

On Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred in the 4700 block of Fountain Avenue, in the City of Los Angeles. An unidentified male white approximately 44-year old was walking northbound on Fountain Avenue at New Hampshire when he was struck by an unidentified burgundy compact vehicle, possibly with paper plates, that was eastbound on Fountain Avenue.

The impact between the vehicle and the victim caused the victim to be thrown several feet then landing on the roadway. The driver of this vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the victim. The driver failed to identify themselves, then continued in an easterly direction on Fountain Avenue where the driver made a right turn on Vermont Avenue.

The victim was subsequently transported to the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. At this time the victim of this collision has not been identified. He is described as a male white, approximately 44 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, 5'8" tall, and approximately 150 pounds. The victim was wearing a light blue jacket over a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Any questions or information in regards to this collision should be forwarded to Detective Michael Kaden, Central Traffic Division's Follow-up Unit at 213-485-3111, or Central Traffic Collision's Watch Commander at 213-485-3122.
