"Mysterious Homicide Under Investigation"
Los Angeles: On Friday, December 22, 2000, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Foothill Area Community Police Station patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Shots Fired" in the 11800 block of Vanport Avenue in Lake View Terrace. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 64 year-old Caucasian male lying on the floor inside what appeared to be his residence. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
Foothill Area Homicide Detectives responded to the crime scene. Although the investigation is in its initial stages, it appears that the victim was confronted by and killed by unidentified suspects within his residence. The motive for the crime has not yet been established.
Detectives from Foothill Operations Support Division are handling the investigation and are seeking assistance from the community.
