LAPD Joins Community March for Peace and Justice

Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks

Los Angeles: On Saturday, December 22, 2001, at approximately 10:00 a.m., representatives from the Los Angeles Police Department will join with Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas and members of the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks in a "Community Walk for Peace and Justice." The Walk begins with a tree planting and dedication for Marquese Prude at St. Andrews Park . Officials are commemorating the untimely death of 13 year-old Marquese Prude who was shot and killed in the latter part of November 2001 while visiting the Recreation Center at St. Andrews Park. The march will begin at St. Andrews Park, located at Manchester Boulevard and St. Andrews Place, and end one mile later at the Jesse Owens Park.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District will also commemorate the opening of a drop-in center at St. Andrews Park.
