LAPD Seeks Assistance in Identifying Body of Unknown Strangulation Victim

"LAPD Seeks Assistance in Identifying Body of Unknown Strangulation Victim"

North Hollywood: Homicide Detectives are investigating the possible strangulation murder of a "John Doe" that occurred on Thursday, December 20, 2001, at about 3:00PM. The victim is male, possibly in his mid-thirties, known only as "Jay", possibly of Cuban descent and a resident of Pasadena. He may have recently owned a compact sedan, blue in color with gray primer spots.

Police received information from a citizen who reported seeing a dead body inside a residence in the 4700 block of Vantage Avenue in the Valley Village area of North Hollywood. Subsequent investigation and service of a search warrant led to the discovery of the victim's body, found bound within a twin bed mattress.

Detectives arrested a resident of the murder location, Patrick Garrison Seaton, 41 years of age, for murder. He was booked at the Parker Center Jail in downtown Los Angeles. Investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the events leading up to the murder.

Anyone who might know the victim, based on the limited description available, or about the murder, should contact Detectives G. Tavares, V. Bankcroft, or J.M. Coffey from the North Hollywood Homicide Unit at 818-623-4016 or 818-623-4075, during business hours. On wekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).

This press release was prepared by Officer Guillermo Campos, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
