Traffic Collision Investigation at LAX

Los Angeles: On December 2, 2004, at about 9:50 a.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred on the 96 th Street Bridge and Sepulveda Boulevard, at the Los Angeles International Airport.
57 year-old Larry Walker, an airport shuttle bus driver, was driving with 23 passengers onboard, westbound on the 96 th Street Bridge when his bus was struck by a Chevrolet Van. The van was being driven by a 49 year-old Los Angeles resident who was eastbound on the 96 th Street Bridge. For reasons yet to be determined, the van crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the bus.
The driver of the van was transported to Centinela Hospital where he died from his injuries. His name is not being released pending notification to his family. There were complained of injuries to an unknown number of passengers on the bus.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division is investigating this collision.
