Funeral Services for Former LAPD Chief Thomas Reddin

Los Angeles: Funeral Services for former Los Angeles Police Chief Thomas Reddin, will be held Friday, December 10, 2004, at 11a.m. at the Los Angeles Police Academy, 1880 North Academy Drive, Los Angeles, California, 90012. Media planning to cover the services are asked to be in place no later than 10:30a.m. There are three (3) designated parking spaces for those Television Stations staffing the event with crews planning to cover the services live. All other media will be required to park in the lots provided. Parking is limited and is on a first come first serve basis.
Reddin, who died Saturday December 4, 2004 , was 88. His will be the first LAPD Chief funeral since William H. Parker was laid to rest in 1966. Reddin was the Department’s forty-fifth Chief of Police. A career police officer who rose through the ranks, Reddin is credited with being an innovator who helped modernize the LAPD and introduced the Community Policing concept.
LAPD Chief William J. Bratton is scheduled to take part in the funeral service.
