Officer-Involved Shooting, Results in Death

 

Los Angeles: On Monday, December 22, 2004, at about 2:25 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department’s Officer Frank Garcia, an eight year veteran, and Officer Laurissa Hulsebus, a three year veteran, were working Rampart Area patrol. The officers responded to a radio call at 427 South Grandview Avenue for a domestic violence investigation.

The officers were met by a female victim in front of her residence and were informed that her common law husband and she were involved in a domestic violence incident, where the suspect brandished a handgun.

The officers conducted a follow up to the victim’s residence and made contact with the armed suspect. The confrontation resulted in an officer involved shooting. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect has been identified as 26 year-old, Redin Cubas.

This investigation is on going and being handled by Force Investigation Division.
