1 Dead, 2 Injured in Drive-by Shooting

Los Angeles:  Damisha McNabb, a 25-year-old woman from Los Angeles, was killed and two others were injured in a drive-by shooting, which occurred last night, December 15, 2005, in the 800 block of 56th Street in South Los Angeles.

An unidentified 22-year-old woman and Damisha McNabb were sitting in a Toyota parked on the street last night just before eleven when a compact car drove past the Toyota and fired several rounds.  Both women, as well as a 33-year-old man, who was standing on the sidewalk, were hit by gunfire.  Detectives believe the shooting is gang related.

McNabb was pronounced dead at California Hospital about 30 minutes after the shooting.  McNabb's companion was treated at a local hospital and released.  The wounded man was treated at Martin Luther King Hospital and released.

No description of the suspect's car was immediately available.  The names of the two surviving victims will not be released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detectives Luis Romero or Grace Garcia at 213-485-1383.  On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
