Triple Shooting in Van Nuys

Los Angeles: Detectives are investigating a triple shooting that left one dead and two wounded.

On Sunday, December 3, 2006, at about 1:30 A.M., Van Nuys patrol officers responded to a, "Shooting Just Occurred," radio call in the 15800 block of Marlin Place. Responding officers discovered three people had been shot leaving a party at the residence there.

Daniel Santos Hernandez, a 19-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was shot in the neck and later died from his injuries at a local hospital. His companion, 19-year-old Christian Rangel, also a resident of Los Angeles, had been shot in the arm. He was transported to a separate hospital and was listed in stable condition. The third victim, 22-year-old Jason Fuentes of Arleta, was shot in the leg. He was listed in stable condition after being transported to a third local hospital.

The suspects were described only as possible male Hispanics. Detectives obtained conflicting statements from witnesses and were not able to establish a motive for the shooting.
