Central Traffic Division Sobriety Check Point

What:
LAPD Sobriety Checkpoints

When:
Friday, December 22, 2006
5:00 PM to 2:00 AM

Where:
Vermont Avenue at Monroe Avenue

Who:
Central Traffic Division (CTD) Officers

Why:
The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness. Motorists approaching a checkpoint will see information advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into a lane, all motorist will be detained a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint. The checkpoints will operate in accordance with guidelines mandated by Supreme Court decision in "Ingersol vs. Palmer".
