Central Traffic Division Sobriety Check Point What: LAPD Sobriety Checkpoints When: Friday, December 22, 2006 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM Where: Vermont Avenue at Monroe Avenue Who: Central Traffic Division (CTD) Officers Why: The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness. Motorists approaching a checkpoint will see information advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into a lane, all motorist will be detained a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint. The checkpoints will operate in accordance with guidelines mandated by Supreme Court decision in "Ingersol vs. Palmer". Officers from CTD will staff the checkpoint.
