Shooting Claims Life of a 14-year-old

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the Murder of Diana Tomas, female Hispanic, 14 years of age.

On December 2, 2007 at about 2:30 PM, Rampart Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at the 400 block of North Layfayette Park Place. Upon arrival officers observed Tomas down on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to her head.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported Tomas to a local hospital where she was placed on life support systems.

On Thursday, December 6, 2007 at about 9:22 AM, Tomas was removed from life support system and pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that witnesses heard a gunshot and notified the police.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, the suspects are unknown and the weapon used is outstanding.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the assistance from the community, asking witnesses to contact Rampart Homicide Detectives Pere or Lee at 213-207-2060 during daytime hours.
