Man Armed with Gun flees from Police
Los Angeles: Man with gun leads officers on a foot pursuit in South Los Angeles.
On December 14, 2007, at about 5:00 PM, Southeast Area gang officer Harland Taylor and his partner attempted to make contact with a possible gang member in the 2100 block of East 101st Street. As officers approached the suspect, a foot pursuit ensued, at which time the suspect produced a handgun.
Officer Taylor fired three times but missed the suspect. The suspect ran into a nearby residence. A subsequent search by SWAT personnel revealed the suspect managed to escaped prior to their entering.
The officers were not injured.
The suspect was described as a male black, 5' 7, 150 lbs. 16- 20 years of age.
The suspect's loaded 9MM semi automatic pistol was recovered at the scene.
Force Investigation Division personnel are investigating the use of force and the crime against the officers.
