A press conference will be held to announce the arrest of the suspects who are believed to be responsible for murdering Deputy Juan Abel Escalante.

On Saturday, August 2, 2008, at about 5:40 a.m., Deputy Escalante left his home in Cypress Park near the 3400 block of Thorpe Street to go to work.  As he stood by his car, the suspect shot him to death.

LAPD Robbery-Homicide detectives along with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau have been investigating the case.

Deputy Escalante was assigned to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Mens’ Central jail.  He was very close to his three young children and served in the United States Army Reserve.
