Why: In October, 2016, two Rampart Area LAPD officers, Officer Hodgen and Officer Prentice, responded to a radio call at a residence regarding an ambulance death of a 62-year-old woman. There, they discovered a female who died from natural causes and left behind a daughter with intellectual disabilities. After completing their death investigation, the officers determined that the 44 year-old daughter left behind was unable to care for herself and required assistance with day-to-day activities. Going beyond their assigned duties, the officers have since befriended the vulnerable woman and continue to help her with basic care including financial stability.

This media availability will introduce the officers and the woman they have befriended through their tragic meeting, and all will be available for interviews at the adult health care center.
