Victim Fatally Shot While Walking Friend to Vehicle

 

Los Angeles: Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of 23 year-old Torey Jones of Canoga Park.

On Saturday, June 7, 2003, at about 10:44 p.m., Devonshire Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of an, "Assault with Shots Fired" in the 21400 block of Chase Street. When the officers arrived, they were met by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedic personnel, and saw the male victim on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking a friend to a parked vehicle when a male Black appeared and shot the victim multiple times in the upper body The motive and the suspect(s) identity are unknown at this time.
