Armored Car Robbed, No Injuries
Los Angeles - On Monday, February 12, 2001, at
3:00 p.m., a Sectran Armored Truck Service was making a daily pick up at
Jetro Wholesale Groceries, located at 5333 West Jefferson Boulevard.
The armored guard exited the front door of the location into
the parking lot after making a pickup to join his partner who was still in
the truck. As the guard approached the truck, a masked suspect armed with a
handgun advanced from the rear and fired several shots at the guard. The
guard dropped the cash bag and retreated back into the store. The suspect
picked up the cash bag and fired additional rounds toward the truck. The
suspect then ran to an Astrovan and joined two additional suspects. The
suspects drove westbound through the parking lot to Hauser Boulevard and
northbound on Hauser Boulevard pursued by a security officer employed by the
store. The suspects leaned out of the van, pointed a handgun at the security
officer who immediately terminated his pursuit. The suspects then abandoned
their van a few blocks away.
No one was injured during this incident. The van was
determined to be a Culver City stolen. The suspects are described as three
male Blacks 5'10" to 6'00" thin build, 20/30 years of age wearing
dark clothing.
