Armored Car Robbed, No Injuries

Los Angeles - On Monday, February 12, 2001, at 3:00 p.m., a Sectran Armored Truck Service was making a daily pick up at Jetro Wholesale Groceries, located at 5333 West Jefferson Boulevard.

The armored guard exited the front door of the location into the parking lot after making a pickup to join his partner who was still in the truck. As the guard approached the truck, a masked suspect armed with a handgun advanced from the rear and fired several shots at the guard. The guard dropped the cash bag and retreated back into the store. The suspect picked up the cash bag and fired additional rounds toward the truck. The suspect then ran to an Astrovan and joined two additional suspects. The suspects drove westbound through the parking lot to Hauser Boulevard and northbound on Hauser Boulevard pursued by a security officer employed by the store. The suspects leaned out of the van, pointed a handgun at the security officer who immediately terminated his pursuit. The suspects then abandoned their van a few blocks away.

No one was injured during this incident. The van was determined to be a Culver City stolen. The suspects are described as three male Blacks 5'10" to 6'00" thin build, 20/30 years of age wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information should contact Detectives Mejia or Martin at Robbery-Homicide Division at 213-485-0780.
