Detectives Make Arrests In 1998 Homicide

Los Angeles: Robbery-Homicide Division personnel have arrested two people for the March 18, 1998 murder of Los Angeles Unified School District Police Officer Joel Shanbrom. Officer Shanbrom was shot and killed while off-duty in his residence in the 17900 block of Raymer Street.

On February 27, 2002, the Los Angeles County District Attorney Office filed murder charges against Jennifer Fletcher (Shanbrom), age 32, the former wife of Joel Shanbrom, and Matthew Fletcher, age 43, the current husband of Jennifer Fletcher (Shanbrom).

On February 28, 2002, Robbery-Homicide personnel served a search warrant at the couple's residence in the 9400 block of Fox Hill Lane in Chatsworth. Evidentiary items were removed from the residence.

Matthew Fletcher was taken into custody at a nearby location and transported to Parker Center where he was booked for 187 PC (Murder). Jennifer Fletcher (Shanbrom) surrendered at the San Fernando Court and was taken into custody and booked for 187 PC (Murder).
