Who: Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Police William Bratton, Other Department Employees and Balancing the Odds Foundation Members

What: Jeopardy "Balancing the Odds" Foundation Welcome Chief of Police William Bratton and Present Annual Distinguished Service Awards to Individuals Involved With the Jeopardy Programs Throughout the San Fernando Valley

When: Thursday, February 13, 2003, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where: Peterson Automotive Museum, 6060 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles

Los Angeles: Jeopardy "Balancing the Odds" program is a front-end gang intervention unit of the Los Angeles Police Department and sponsored by the Jeopardy "Balancing the Odds" Foundation. It is a multi-disciplinary approach designed to equip families with skills necessary to avoid the lure of gangs and to make successful and productive choices. The program strategies include recreational activities in sports and in the arts, an in-house family counseling center, literacy training and enrichment activities.

The management of the Peterson Automotive Museum has generously donated their venue for this event. The museum will be closed to the public for the evening. Hors d’oeuvres, drinks and dessert will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. along with self-guided tours. Photo opportunities will be made available with Chief William Bratton, the awardees and the Jeopardy Board of Trustees at 6:00 p.m. The award presentations begin at 7:00 p.m.
