Detectives Investigate Street Killing


Los Angeles: Southeast Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of 25 year-old, Webster Evans.

On Monday, February 17, 2003, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the victim was standing in the street in front of the 200 block of West 112th Street. The suspect(s) drove and stopped alongside the victim. The passenger in the vehicle took out a handgun and for no apparent reason fired several times towards the victim. The victim was struck by the gunfire and collapsed at the scene. The suspect(s) fled northbound on Broadway in an unknown Dark colored vehicle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for his injuries. On Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 3:30a.m., the victim failed to respond to emergency medical treatment and was pronounced dead as a result of his gunshot wounds.

The motive is currently under investigation.
