Los Angeles: During the late evening hours of Sunday February 15, 2004 and the early morning hours of Monday February 16, 2004, the victim was assaulted inside his apartment located in the 1400 block of South Bronson Avenue. The victim received fatal injuries and died inside his home.

The victim was discovered on Thursday February 19, 2004 at approximately 9:00 a.m., when Wilshire Division Patrol Officers went to the location to conduct a welfare check as requested by the victim's family. The victim has been identified as 38 year old Gilberto Santos.
